Term 4 Week 2
In Morris class we are learning to describe a moment in time. Our image was a beautiful illustration taken from a book. We are not sure about copyright so we cannot include it in this post. You will have to use your imagination from the description written by Brooklyn!
FISHING WITH MUM
One day on the beach there was a boy who was nine years old.He had black hair and brown skin. His mum looked like the boy.The mum had a shark necklace. She looked like she was going somewhere. She had a look of excitement and surprise.

The sea shone like the sun.The boy was holding two fish. His mum looked` as if it was her special day.The fish were fresh to eat. They were standing on the hot hot sand.Do you like fish?I think they like fish.I wonder what they are going to catch next!

Writing - including a plan!

TERM 4 Week 1
This recount was written by Stephen. He has a simple plan which he has written on his Chromebook to guide him. The highlighted parts are his self assessment to show where he elaborated and added some more information. I think its a great example of someone being clear about their learning. Would you like to give him some feedback?

The incredible pools
Last week on Thursday my family, uncles, aunties, cousins and I went to the pools. There were two pools. One was deep and one was shallow. It was incredible!

When we went inside the pool,it was very, very loud!but we had fun.when we’ve  been playing games. we were laughing loud like a clown. Then we were diving in the inside the pool.we were sliding down the water slide. After that I said “this is so fun and so incredible!

Then we ate fish and chips and we drank water because we were very, very hungry and thirsty. After a while we went back home and played board games.  I said I wish we could go there again.

Holiday fun in Auckland

 Term 4 Week 1

In the holidays my dad and my brother and I went to Victoria Park.

I grabbed my scooter.I saw big ramps and a tall ramp.I was so excited to do tricks! Joseph and I rode around the scooter park.I was so,so fast. The wind blew through  me like a giant tornado.
It was fantastic at Victoria Park because I did a 380 pipe, and I went down the ramp super fast!Joseph and I did a 180 pipe. It means the scooter goes under your legs. And goes over your head and  you land. When I was practising my moves I did a 360 slide bar!A 360 slide bar is when you do a 360 in the air and land on the bar and slide down in the bottom of your scooter.

When we were  done playing at Victoria Park we had to go back home. When we were at home it was so much fun. I thought it was incredible.Joseph and I were so,so tired.I took a drink and rested.

Cross country Race

 The Extreme Cross Country Race
At Hay Park we are doing cross country. Tomorrow is the main cross country race, at Keith Hay Park.

When I am at the starting line, I feel as happy as a clown, because I want to get fit. I get tired when I am near Cameron Pools. When we run I feel as excited as a hippo!  My body feels good because my heart is pumping fast. I wonder if that happens with you sometimes?

At the end of the race I feel proud because I ran a long way.

What should I do?

Posted Term 3 Week 5 2016

Patrick has thought about a possible danger that sometimes happens when you are on the internet. Here is what he came up with for himself and to help others.

It's so important to know ahead of time what you will do and what you won't do if something happens. Being prepared makes you a cyber smart person who is going to thrive in the digital world. What other scenarios are you prepared for? Perhaps you could make a similar document to share with us. Sharing great ideas is so helpful. It makes the world go round!!

Olympic Values

Term 3 Week 2 Learning new ideas and taking in new information is helping us understand more about the world and what we want to do as we live in it. A new discovery this week were the Olympic values which also remind us of our school values. It was interesting to know that other places have values too that they talk about and think about. We used Google Drawings to create a chart about them, so here are a few examples.

We are learning about Lynley Dodd as an author. We love her clever ideas and the characters in her books are so interesting to read about.

 Hairy Maclary

Hairy Maclary was at Hay Park School. When he saw Dusky they were friends. It was the first time that  we saw  them being friends. Hairy Maclary was rushing up to Dusky because they were excited, They went under the shade sail to have some shade,  They went to the Junior Park and they were running around at the end of lunch break.

Hairy Mclary is a naughty boy. He and Dusky are enemies  and he fights Dusky because he want to be stronger and more loved by the students.
Fatima

Hairy Maclary went to Hay Park School. He made friends with Dusky and played together. He had so much fun and he liked to roll on the slide.

A visit to the Symphony Orchestra

 Term 1 Week 10

Our whole school piled into three buses and off we went to the Mt Albert War Memorial Hall to hear the Youth Symphony Orchestra. What an amazing sound!  It was such special day and afterwards  some students wanted to learn the clarinet, the saxophone, the harp,, flutes, piccolo, and bass. Nalisa even had the opportunity to conduct the orchestra and some students were allowed to go and sit in the orchestra space to hear what the music sounds like there.  We heard all the instruments one by one and of course we heard them all play together.

All the councillors will ask their class what they want to happen at school.

Is it a good idea to have a school uniform?

Term 1 Week 6

This was a homework question that we all had to think about.  Stephen wrote  his ideas and they are really worth reading.

I think its good to wear our uniform so we can look nice and smart. We have a wonderful school uniform. I like my uniform because its nice.and warm. Its warm because we wear jumpers. When I get ready in the morning I am fast.. I don't have to look for clothes because I have my uniform. My mum likes uniforms because she has little washing to do.
I think uniforms are excellent!

LOVE YOUR COAST!

  • Term 1 Week 4  Tuesday .  We met an oceanographer called Oliver who explained that plastic is really dangerous for sea creatures. It comes down drains, and is blown by the wind but the tiny bits of plastic get stuck in the animal's throats and can even kill them. It would be so helpful if we picked up rubbish instead of letting it blow into the sea. So that's what we did at the new reserve called Onehunga Bay.

LOVE YOUR COAST

I was excited because I was waiting for this moment. I was on the bus and  I was looking out the window because I was so surprised. The whole school and even me, had to pick up rubbish. I had a lot of fun but I felt hot so the whole school had a little dip on the other beach next to the Onehunga Bay Reserve. I had so much fun but the whole school had to go back to Hay Park School . I like going to beaches and we all need to love our coast!

Nalisa

Love your coast
by Vitaraag
I was excited because we were going to Onehunga Bay. I was shocked because I don't want bays to be full of rubbish. Before we went to the bay, two boys called Riley and Oliver told us what will happen if we throw rubbish. Plastic is making the animals die . When we went to the bay we were handed gloves and we picked up rubbish like cigarettes and glass. After that we were going to another beach and we finished off with swimming and making sand sculptures.

Tearo's  day at Onehunga Bay
Oliver and Riley gave us gloves and we picked up rubbish. We all had hats to protect us from the sun. We had a little swim and then we got out and went back to Hay Park School, and went to class.
